Message: In recent years, China has been attracting attention as a "hotspot for infectious disease outbreaks" where many important emerging infectious diseases occur. At the same time, relations between Japan and China can sometimes be politically unstable. Under such circumstances, maintaining an overseas base for infectious disease research in China is by no means easy, but we believe that this is very important at this time. We would like to continue to make the most of this overseas base, not only to promote cutting-edge research, but also to develop a wide range of infectious disease research and contribute to Japan and the international community.
