International Research Center for Infectious Diseases Collaboration Program

Japan has established overseas research centers in 11 countries in Asia, Africa, and South America, where infectious diseases are prevalent, and is conducting basic research on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
In addition, starting in fiscal year 2023, a new "Network Core Center" was established to further strengthen and enhance the network of these overseas research centers and improve Japan's infectious disease response capabilities, and the National Institute for Health Risk Management (JIHS) has been entrusted with the function and is operating it.
